According to the latest Salaries & Wages Survey Report Malaysia 2016 from the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM), the median wage for male employees increased by 7.3% as compared to the previous year in 2015; while female employees saw an increase by 5.2%. In fact, the median monthly salary of male employees was higher at RM1,721 compared to female employees (RM1,685) in 2016.
Similarly, the average monthly salary of male employees of RM2,500 was higher than female employees at RM2,398.
Overall, the median monthly wages received by paid employees improved by 6.2% in 2016 from RM1,600 to RM1,703 year-on-year. Additionally, the mean monthly salaries recorded an annual growth rate of 6.3% to RM2,463 compared to RM2,312 in 2015.
