SUBANG JAYA, Jan 17 (Bernama) -- Water specialist Coway Malaysia Sdn Bhd is targeting to reach one million customers by the end of 2018 while expanding its footprint into the Southeast Asian (SEA) region with Malaysia becoming its hub.
Director of Global Business Division James Park said Coway Malaysia achieved a 30,000 per cent growth in unit sales in 11 years of its operations in the country, growing from 100 units in 2006 to 1,000 per month in 2007 and 1,000 units per day at present.
"We achieved a sales revenue of RM790 million and an operating margin of eight per cent, while growing the customers base to 700,000 in 2017.
"Thus, we are confident of making Malaysia our hub for Southeast Asia, with Vietnam and Indonesia as our most preferred destinations to go into," he said at Coway Malaysia's corporate strategy and outlook media briefing here today.
Park said as Coway rose quickly to become the most successful Korean brand in Malaysia, its headquarters injected an additional capital investment of RM360 million in Malaysia last year to bring the total to about RM394 million to date, further catalysing the localisation process.....
